The ceramic elements used in the Katadyn filters have an average pore size of .2 microns which filters out all known harmful bacteria and parasites.
Katadyn is current producing portable filter products only and is no longer making the household models. However, the standard replacement ceramic and carbon filters are available from EPS.

Drip Ceradyn and Drip Gravidyn
The Drip models consist of two plastic containers stacked together allowing gravity to work for you.
The top container holds about 2.5 gallons of raw water and the three upright filters. The water drips through the filters and is collected in the bottom container. Output is about 1/2 gallon per hour.
Filters surfaces are renewed by
light scrubbing with abrasive pad. Service life of Ceradyn filters is up to 39,000 gallons.
Gravidyn filters include additional carbon core to reduce chemicals and improve taste. Service life is 6 months.
Shipping size is about 11" x 11" x 18" with a weight of 10 lbs.
Ceradyn, Carbodyn, and Gravidyn Elements
These are the full sized replacement filter elements for most of Katadyn Drip and Household filters.
Ceradyn are the full-sized ceramic-only filters. Usually good for up to 2 years depending on water quality.
Carbodyn are the full-sized activated carbon-only filters for Household filters. Usually good for 1 year use.
Gravidyn are the full-sized ceramic filters with the activated carbon core. Essentially they are the same as the Ceradyn except they have the activated carbon center core. Usually good for about 6 months.
Filters are approximately 10"L and 2" diameter.
